A bartender at Buckeye Roadhouse mixes a cocktail with a tarragon vodka. If the flavor is commerically produced it’s fine; if the restaurant made the infusion, it’s illegal.
I recently had a beautiful cocktail at one of my favorite restaurants, lovingly crafted by the bartender using house-infused liquors. I won’t tell you which one because I don’t want him carted off to jail.

If you want to learn how to mix drinks like a pro, you probably dont want to do what I did in 1973, when I was starting out behind the stick in the United States. I found a bar where the bartenders knew what they were doing, and I became a regular there, sitting at the end of the bar, listening to the wait staff ordering drinks and watching the bartenders make them, every night for about a month. My liver took an awful pounding.
